The Go is a brand new website (founded in August 2009) based in Australia. We have noticed that as the cost of cheap flights come down there is an increasing trend for people to travel interstate to attend gigs, festivals and sporting events etc. If an event is sold out in one state, why not just go to one of the interstate events, stay somewhere with a party atmosphere and make a mini holiday of it? At launch its main aims were to:
Provide a gig guide focussing on the best talent from/touring Australia and to allow easier access to these events.
The Go is dedicated to providing the best music and gaming news and reviews, sporting roundups and analysis, and much more. Our writers are a mix of up and coming journalists who are refining their skills, to enthusiastic writers who have little experience but a lot of passion about their chosen topics.
We are aimed at the 18-35 age group so you won't get all the teenie bopper crap thats on so many “music” websites around. Thats right.....no gossip about the Jonas Brothers, Katie Perry, The Pussycat Dolls etc. We may grudgingly put a concert listing in the gig guide....but we won't like it! We also reserve the right to verbally abuse and degrade anyone who is willing to admit attending these events (disclaimer...its ok to attend The Pussycat Dolls if you wear earplugs and are in the front couple of rows)
You will also find us focussing on those gamers who actually appreciate a bit of substance instead of what is so often shoved down our throats by the evil corporations. All those “games” that get released alonside a new movie can go jump. Anyone that thinks the Sober Wii really is the best gaming system around should leave this site immediately. Playing the Drunk Wii....well...that's a different story entirely.
When giving an opinion piece on sport we intend to be entertaining, have a valid point, encourage discussion and make sure that the real issues are discussed. Players cheating on their wives is an example of the stuff that we WON'T be talking about. Let's face it...what players do off the field can stay in the domain of the trash papers and gossip magazines. Sports enthusiasts don't really care about such indiscretions (unless the story includes siamese twins, a donkey or a removable leg). They care about.... wait for it.... the SPORT!
The Go is dedicated in providing the best content it can while steadily growing our community.
