THQ announces Metro 2033

[digg]

THQ recently announced that Metro 2033 will be released on the Xbox 360 and the PC sometime in 2010. The post-apocalyptic game was originally for the PS3 and PC but THQ decided to flip to Microsoft's console.

Metro 2033 is based on a cult-classic novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky. It takes place in the year 2033, two decades after the nuclear holocaust. Players will be placed in the shoes of protagonist Artyom, who along with other survivors, try to face the post-apocalyptic world filled with mutated beings and never-ending winter.

Think of it as Fallout 3 but with Russia as the wasteland. Based on game trailers, Metro 2033 is dark, scary and a constant battle for survival. Not to mention great graphics and superb voice acting.

Not much is known about Metro 2033 yet but the game looks like it’s going to be great. You really can't avoid comparing it to Fallout 3. Not exactly a bad thing considering Fallout 3 won Game of the Year last year (according to IGN anyway, Metal Gear Solid IV was GOY for GameSpot).

The only problem I have now is I can't find an English version of the book online.
