Arsenal were Fantastic overall during there macth with Bolton Wanderes which Ended 4-2 at the Emirates which made Arsenal move to the top of the Premier League Table.
Gary Cahill and Matty Taylor gave bolton a quick fire lead for Bolton in the first half of the away match But just before the stroke of half time Tomas Rosicky made it 1-2 for arsenal. And Just after the break the Gunner's captain Csec Fabregas made it 2-2. A few mins later Thomas Vermaelen finished off a Fabregas Corner before Andrey Arshavin sealed the match for Arsenal.
Arsenal vs Boltan, whether it be a home match or a visit to reebok stadium , these matches have always been difficult for Arsenal in the recent past, but the way in which the Gunners brushed aside Bolton’s physicality over the weekend suggested this Arsenal side may well have the composure and maturity to last this season’s title challenge. A point Wenger was keen to make in the build up to this tie.
To be honest, Arsenal's form have been so Impressive since their 3-0 defeat to their London rivals Chelsea on the 29th November that Arsene Wenger's young side headed into tonight's tie knowing victory by a margin of atleast two goals would see them as a tough contenders for the Premier League Title.
As Bolton's New boss Owen Coyle was aware of the dominance of the Arsenal midfield on Sunday, He brought Mark Davies into a five man midfield with Ivan Klasnic being dropped to the bench. Arsenal was even more strengthened by the return of fit again duo Denilson and Gael Clichy, the made their usual start and Abou Diaby went really close to giving his team the lead but his fourth minute effore was too weak to beat Jussi Jaaskelainen in the Bolton goal.
Arsenal was not at all looking composed and boisterous home support was soon to be tempered as they were unable to clear a long throw, Gary Cahill thundered a Kevin Davies flick-on past Manuel Alumunia from six yards out in the Arsenal D area. Soon after this, the Gunners took control and fired shots on their visitor's goal. Tomas Rosicky played in Denilson, who again played in Eduardo but nor he nor Eduardo could make any bigger impact on the away side's goal.
Andrey Arshavin volleyed the ball to Diaby who couldn't control and gave the Trotters a chance to double their lead. Having Been beaten by Mark Davies, Diaby brought him down 25 yards out from the goal post. Matty Taylor took the free kick and whipped it arround the only to see Almunia get a strong hand block to it.But Taylor wasn't far away from scoring as Denilson fouled Lee Chung-Yong inside the box, Taylor stepped up to give Bolton a two goals lead from twelve yard. Arsenal now needed 3 goals to win and 4 goals to top the table.
Just before the half stroke at Emirates , Arsenal found themselves a wonderful open encounter. Having been played in By Fabregas, Eduardo fired straight at Jaaskelainen and then the Croatian blazed a free-kick over via a deflection off arshavin. Soon after that Kevin Davies almost unwantedly halved the lead when trying to defend a fabregas free-kick, as his defensive header made the ball hit his own cross-bar. The home fans thought it may not be the Gunners' night.
But Arsenal's hard work paid moments before the half time whistle. Rosicky, having received the ball from Fabregas, shifted the ball to the right and beat Jaaskelainen at his near post from 20 yards to set up a Thrilling second half.
Bolton again started the second half in a dominating way but Taylor wasted a free-kick over the bar from 30 yards out. In fact, the visitors dominated the early attacks and ball possessions of the half, but Arsenal again took control and controversially drew level .. 2-2. William Gallas went into Mark Davies, and as a heap was created in the midfield. Fabregas took the ball broke through 3 defenders into the box before shoting between the legs of Jaaskelainen from a tight angle. Arsenal continued to dominate and Fabregas stung the palms of Jaaskelainen from 20 yards before delivering the corner that led to Arsenal taking the lead.
Arsenal continued to probe and Fabregas stung the palms of Jaaskelainen from 20 yards before delivering the corner that led to Arsenal taking the lead.Bolton failed to clear the Spaniard’s testing corner and when Diaby headed it down, Thomas Vermaelen beautifully controlled his half volley to fire in off the post and put the Gunners a goal away from the top of the table.
Centre backs Vermaelen and Gallas led the charge for that elusive fourth – Gallas on a not so rare foray forward won a free-kick twenty yards out that Fabregas struck straight at the wall.
Despite chasing that fourth goal, Bolton – and Kevin Davies, in particular, who, with little support, won everything in the air for the visitors – ensured the home side were to endure a nervous final few minutes.
But Andrey Arshavin denied the Trotters any hope of getting anything from the game and sent the home side top of the table with five minutes to go. Having exchanged passes with Eduardo, the Russian slotted past a beleaguered Jaaskelainen, who scarcely deserved to concede four goals.
The result was harsh on the visitors but a comeback of that magnitude will do no harm to the growing belief at the Emirates that this could be their year. Arsenal are in confident mood after an astonishing two-month push that has seen the north Londoners eradicate an 11-point deficit, and they are now ready to push for the Premier League crown.
I think everybody knows that the coming weeks are the critical ones in the whole season and I would say the win over Bolton came right on time for the team. For the confidence of the team, it is absolutely great.
